Pirouettes with a view of snow-capped peaks

Biting cold, warming rays of sunshine and a sparkling blanket of ice – sledging means outdoor fun in Zell am See-Kaprun. Whether leisurely skating in pairs or chasing a new personal best: As you glide across the thick ice of Lake Zell or Lake Ritzen, time seems to pass a little faster with each stroke of the blades. Don’t be fooled – you won’t regret it!

Surrounded by the alpine panorama, it becomes clear on Lake Zell why so many people indulge in the elegant winter sports here. But there is also room for more robust ice skaters: Whether ‘Rittberger’ or ‘Penalty Shootout’ – the frozen water between Kitzsteinhorn and Schmittenhöhe is open to everyone. And on Kaprun’s ice skating rink you can swing your skates under the floodlights even in the evening.

When the weather gods melt the ice, skating doesn’t have to end in Zell am See-Kaprun. Finally, there is the Zell ice rink. International teams, figure skaters and speed skaters also set up their training camp at the home of the local ice hockey club. And even the professionals of the national ice hockey association use the hall as a performance center.
