Alpine hut in Saalbach – Hinterglemm

Weekly hike to the alpine hut in Hinterglemm from our farm

If you want to immerse yourself in the original life of the farmers 200 years ago or live in harmony with nature for a while, you will feel at home in the original and primeval atmosphere of the Hochalm at 1700 meters in the middle of the mountains of Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

Approximately 100 young cattle and calves as well as 10 horses from our own and third-party rearing graze on 140 hectares of alpine pasture.

Since our alpine pasture in Saalbach-Hinterglemm is big enough to hunt, a stalking tour with our hunter is also possible!
On request, overnight stays are possible here in our alpine hut in summer from the end of May to the end of October (depending on the weather). In winter, this hut can only be reached with touring skis, as it is completely covered in snow!

Our weekly hiking trip to the Hochalm already offers a small foretaste…

Position:

Our two alpine pastures are located in the midst of the beautiful and untouched mountains in the province of Salzburg in the Saalbach – Hinterglemm area – a top starting point for easier high-altitude hikes as well as for more demanding summit tours, e.g. to the Geißstein, the Murnauer Scharte, the Schusterkogel and to the Hochtorsee, etc.

You will be rewarded for this effort with a view of the Tauern, including the Großglockner.
Here you have found the ideal place to relax in absolute peace – apart from the ringing of cowbells – and to leave everyday life behind…

Furnishing:

In front of the hut: panoramic terrace with a table and enough seating in front of the hut with a view of the mountain range opposite.
Fully equipped kitchen (with running mountain spring water, 2-burner gas stove, wood stove, hot water must be heated in the wood stove’s water vessel), bathroom with bathtub (for hot water, the water must first be heated with logs), sink and toilet, rustic living room (combined Dining/sleeping room) with double bed, dining table, battery-operated radio and wood stove, as well as 1 further bedroom (double bed).
2 more beds are available on the “Hüan”. The constantly cool cellar serves as a cooling facility for food, and the fountain trough with its constantly flowing ice-cold spring water is ideal for drinks!

Thanks to a new access road, this hut can be easily reached with any car! Plenty of tea lights, gas lamps and cartridges, torches and firewood are available. Heating skills are absolutely necessary! No electricity and mostly no cell phone reception!

Please note:

The nearest shop in Hinterglemm is about 30 minutes away by car. Next serviced hut about 25 minutes by car or 1 hour’s walk away. The hut is about 1 hour’s drive from the home. Meanwhile, there is light thanks to solar power.

You have to bring your own bed linen or sleeping bags and towels!

And one small request at the end: the next guest will be happy if he can enter a clean hut!
